The title merely hints at the steamy and deliciously perverse interior of this erotic short. Vivian Vane has crafted a story of depraved degradation that matches or equals my previous favorite of hers 'Fertile Mistresses'. Can Meredii resist the Satyr's enticing musk? Can she resist the urge to breed? Will she save her friend and traveling companion from becoming just another servant to the Satyr's dark lusts?

This is the one to get!

Ali Maffucci's second cookbook is structured a little differently than the first, Inspiralized: Turn Vegetables into Healthy, Creative, Satisfying Meals, which had the recipes arranged by type (breakfasts, sandwiches, casseroles, desserts etc.). This one has chapters for all the different vegetables you can spiralize - from apples to zucchini, and each chapter has all sorts of ideas for what can be made out of these healthy ingredients.

I own both Inspiralized cookbooks, and have to say that the second one is my favorite. Not only is it thicker, but I personally find it easier to navigate the recipes when they are broken down by main ingredient. We do a CSA share every year, and quite often I'll find myself staring at some of the veggies thinking what to do with them - this is where the spiralizer and Ali's books and blog have been a great help! On top of that, I feel that she has found her voice in the second book, it reads more personal and more like her blog. In the first book I missed the kinds of tips she gives on the blog - like what brand of canned tomatoes or fish sauce is her favorite, and I was happy to see more of that in the second book. The fiber content has also been added to the nutritional info for each recipe, which is great.

I do have to say that the recipes in both of Ali's books are for the most part a bit more complicated and time consuming than on the blog and especially on Ali's youtube channel (which is a goldmine of healthy recipes that can be made in just ten minutes or so - perfect for the busy working family). The blog feels a little more "beginner friendly", and I really hope that one day Ali will release a book about the basics of spiralizing which could be gifted as a set with the spiralizer and some OXO tongs to people who have never heard of this awesome way to prepare vegetables and fruit. For now I will be adding Inspiralize Everything to this set, letting them know to check out the Inspiralized blog as well.

PS - One small tip that I have for zucchini and cucumbers is to salt them lightly after spiralizing and lay them on paper towels for 10-30 minutes. This will release the extra moisture (which gets absorbed by the paper towels) and you won't have any annoying extra liquid in your prepared zoodles or salads!

Healthy, flavorful dishes with clear instructions and plenty of photos

Ali Maffucci knows how to write a clear, easy-to-follow cookbook with healthy recipes that don't require much prep time.

About 67-75% of the recipes are accompanied by a photo, so you can see what the final product looks like. Next to the header for each recipe are the nutrition facts, time for prep/cooking, servings, what other produce the recipe would work well worth, difficulty of the recipe (mostly defined by number of steps), and handy classifications like gluten-free, saves well, one pot, paleo, dairy-free, etc. At the back of the book is a master table of every recipe and how it's classified, so it's easy to see at a glance which recipes fall under what you are looking to make. Ali's writing style is very encouraging towards readers adapting recipes to suit their tastes and what is available/in season - if you can't find jicama, make the Carne Asada with zucchini, sweet potato, or kohlrabi noodles instead.

There's a "how-to" section in the front, which is pretty brief but covers the basics of how to spiralize, what to spiralize, how to clean your spiralizer, and her pantry/kitchen equipment suggestions of success. This cookbook is organized similarly to her website, with the recipes categorized by spiralized ingredient, rather than by dish like her previous cookbook. Thus, each chapter has a lovely photo of the produce, a little about it's flavor and how to pick it out when purchasing, how to prepare and store it, which blade to use, the best ways to cook it.

I didn't check every single recipe, but so far I haven't been able to spot any overlap between the recipes in this cookbook, her recipes online, or her previous cookbook. There are a ton of new, incredibly creative, flavorful but healthy dishes in Ali's new cookbook. We've been getting tons of kohlrabi from friend's who don't know what to do with their CSA box goodies, and I'm really excited to try Ali's Chicken Mole with Kohlrabi Rice & her General Tso's Cauliflower with Kohlrabi Rice. Both dishes take only 15-25 minutes of prep time and can be ready to eat an hour or less. Spiralizing beets and broccoli stems was a revelation for me when I first started following Ali, so I'm especially excited for the weather to cool down enough for Shrimp Tom Kha Soup with Broccoli Noodles and Green Curry Golden Beet Noodle Bowls.

Since Ali's recipes are written so accessibly and rely on ingredients that most people have in their pantry already or can easily buy at the store, I was able to make myself dinner tonight right after receiving her new cookbook. Her Cabbage Buddha Bowl with Chickpea-Avocado Mash and BBQ Tahini was perfect as a no-cook, gluten-free, refreshing yet satisfying dinner in 20 minutes. As a bonus, I saved the leftovers (pre-dressing) to take for lunch tomorrow.

I would argue there are some instances where needing to spiralize the produce for the dish is a little bit of a stretch - to me it seems much easier to slice apples and pears for the Ginger Pear and Apple Sangria and the Chai-Spiced Pear Oatmeal, plus I'm not certain about the difference in texture due to spiralizing zucchini for zucchini bread rather than grating it. However, they are certainly visually stunning uses of the spiralizer and I'd be willing to try making them once.

Easy to navigate

Buy, buy, buy! Where do I even begin? Inspiralize Everything is incredible! Easy to navigate, delicious recipes and beautiful photos! The book is sorted by the fruit or veggie that you will be using, which makes it quick and painless to find exactly what you're looking to cook! I received my book on tuesday (the release date) and had already made 4 recipes by Friday. My brother is a vegetarian, so I cooked and packed up some of Ali's inspiralized apple muffins and vegetarian "meat" balls and made a trip to my brothers house to drop them off. He loved them! He's a young student and it's hard for him to find non soy laden food options for himself that are quick and easy so these were perfect, filling and healthy. I've made the onion soup, delicious. The apple muffins, pear pancakes, (my 2 year old and I made them for breakfast and barely had any to save for the next day!) and the "meat balls" and everything is tasty and filling! From her inspiralizer which I own, to her blog and now her two cookbooks is there anything Ali can't make healthy and delicious?!

In 1973, psychologist Ann Streissguth was shocked by the lack of scientific documentation on the impact of alcohol on the unborn child. She sought to fill that void by dedicating her professional career to the study of fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and fetal alcohol effects (FAE). In this compassionate volume, Dr. Streissguth draws on her life's work, writing with wisdom and authority on essential issues surrounding these alcohol-related problems. Using compelling case studies, photos, illustrations, and validated empirical research, the author highlights the cultural, racial, and economic diversity of FAS. A completely preventable disability, FAS still changes the life course of thousands of babies each year. This book will help physicians, psychologists, social workers, educators, advocates, and families of children and adults with FAS work toward an educated community, a supportive network of legislation and programs, and better futures for people living and growing with FAS.

About the Author

Ann Streissguth, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She received her master;s degree in child development from the University of California at Berkeley and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Washington. Dr. Streissguth is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in behavioral teratology. She has 25 years of experience working with individuals with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and fetal alcohol effects (FAE), as well as with their families and communities. Researchers at the University of Washington Fetal Alcohol and Drug Unit, which Dr. Streissguth directs, have investigated many types of prenatal influences on later development in offspring, including alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, aspirin, and acetaminophen. Prior to her position at the Fetal Alcohol and Drug Unit, Dr. Streissguth studied the impact of poverty, preschool experience, caregiving experiences, and the rubella virus on child development. In all, she has published more than 150 scientific papers, two books, and a slide-teaching curriculum on alcohol and pregnancy. Dr. Streissguth and her colleagues have been actively involved in research on preventing FAS/FAE since these conditions were identified. In 1978, she collaborated with Dr. Ruth Little in a 3-year project (The Pregnancy and Health Program) funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) to develop methods to intervene in female alcohol abuse during pregnancy and to prevent FAS/FAE. More recently, Dr. Streissguth and colleagues developed and evaluated the impact of a model advocacy program (Seattle Birth to 3) for helping high-risk women who are abusing alcohol and drugs during pregnancy and not receiving prenatal care. At the conclusion of the 5-year research program funded by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), a local philanthropist provided funding to continue the program; then the governor of Washington State provided funds to develop a second site in another city. As of 1997, the Washington State legislature has funded the two sites for the biennium. Dr. Streissguth has been principal investigator of the Pregnancy and Health Study, a longitudinal prospective study of the relationship between early experiences and child development, funded by NIAAA since 1974. She has completed a major research project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on secondary disabilities in individuals with FAS/FAE and associated risk and protective factors, which culminated in an international conference in Seattle in September 1996. Since 1983, Dr. Streissguth has worked with Native American communities and the Indian Health Service to provide FAS training workshops, screening clinics, research findings, and direct consultations to Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. With her colleagues, she has also initiated a 5-year study of magnetic resonance imaging and neuropsychological functioning in people with FAS/FAE, funded by NIAAA. Along with Dr. Paul Lemoine of France, Dr. Streissguth was co-recipient of the 1985 International Jellinek Memorial Award for Advancement of the Field of Alcohol Studies. In 1987, along with Dr. Ruth Little, she received the annual award for outstanding contribution from the American Medical Society on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies. In 1992, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence presented the Silver Key Award to Dr. Streissguth on behalf of her outstanding contribution and research on FAS/FAE. In 1997, she received the Outstanding Public Service Award from the University of Washington for her efforts to help individuals with FAS/FAE and their families.

Great read to improve sales skills

I make a ton of cold calls everyday and Wayshak's technique on prospecting completely changed the way I look at my job. I like how he lays out specific questions to ask prospects and his opening play concept is something that I now use all the time. A must-read for sales people.

As a Vice President of Sales and Operations for one of the nation's largest home health providers, I am always searching for materials that will enhance our ability to meet and exceed our customer's needs. Game Plan Selling is a must read for any executive leading a sales organization. Marc 'uncomplicates' the sales process. The book provides a dozen gems of information that any person in your organization can take and run with. Its simple to understand and just as easy to implement. The message the book brings to life, has personally helped me identify and close a large deal for my organization. I have read a hundred business books on motivation, sales, all of the 'how to' books, and Game Plan Selling is among the very best. Frankly, because it works. If you are new to Sales or are an experienced pro, this book will give you a Plan to Succeed.

Check out Chapter 3 of this book "The 31 Most Common Struggles in Sales" This chapter alone is worth the price of the book. If you are not experiencing one of these challenges than you are either not being honest with yourself or you are already in the top 5% of your profession. If you are in the top 5%, congratulations, if you are not in the top 5% than this will certainly give you a plan to achieve that status.

Sales is a profession and many "suspect" prospects treat us like we are not deserving of their time before we speak. Marc will show you how to determine if the "suspect" is deserving of our time. He shows us that disqualification is crucial for serious sales growth.

Patramrta is collections of instructions that were taken from the letters written by His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarsavati Thakura Prabhupada to his disciples. The letters, (about 150 of them), were dated between 1916-1936.

Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura wrote extensive commentaries, articles, and verses on the Vedic scriptures, and gave uncompromising lectures and wrote letters to his disciples and followers, which are enriched with the essential teachings of the Vedas. The essential instructions from his letters are now being published as a book.

From a prayer by one of the principal devotees of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, we find the following:

“O ocean of mercy, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu! Let there be an awakening of Your auspicious mercy, which easily drives away all kinds of material lamentation by making everything pure and blissful. Indeed, Your mercy awakens transcendental bliss and covers all material pleasures. By Your auspicious mercy, quarrels and disagreements arising among different scriptures are vanquished. Your auspicious mercy pours forth transcendental mellows and thus causes the heart to jubilate. Your mercy, which is full of joy, always stimulates devotional service and glorifies conjugal love of God. May transcendental bliss be awakened within my heart by Your causeless mercy.”

Śrīmān Mahāprabhu is an ocean of mercy. Although He did not give any instructions for material advancement, there is no comparison to His mercy. By His compassion, all one’s material miseries can be completely vanquished so that one can feel transcendental happiness. All scriptural debate and apparent contradictions are neutralized by His grace. His mercy makes the heart intoxicated by showering upon it transcendental mellows. Its effect in the form of loving devotional service merges one in peacefulness and a flood of love of God. His mercy brings absolute purity to the heart and the most exalted form of sweetness. His compassion never creates inauspiciousness, and as such there is nothing greater than or equal to it.

In order to give the people of the entire world an opportunity to have access to this great compassion of the Lord, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura established monasteries in different cities in India and abroad and thus opened the gate of eternal auspiciousness. This was accompanied by his composing and publishing many Vaiṣṇava literature, and publishing the works of previous mahājanas or great masters with his own commentaries. Following in the footsteps of his illustrious father and spiritual master, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, he established daily, weekly, fortnightly, and monthly transcendental newspapers and magazines in various languages.

His teachings were further presented in the collection of letters written by him to his disciples and admirers, which we have now presented in the form of this book, Patramrta, or Nectars from the Letters.

The original book is in Bengali and was entitled Prabhupādera Patrāvali, or letters of Srila Prabhupāda Bhaktisiddhānta. Our original intention was to translate and publish these letters in their entirely. However, the original compiler and publisher had omitted all the names of the persons to whom the letters were addressed. Essential reading

This is a wonderful glimpse into the sublime character and teachings of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati. Given the placating towards nonsense philosophies by many devotees of Sri Gaura at the present time, we can understand from this book that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta was staunch and uncompromising, a true Titan in the guru-parampara (disciplic lineage) coming from Sri Krishna Chaitanya.

Art Chansky is an author and sportswriter who has covered basketball on Tobacco Road for more than thirty years. By day, he is a sports marketing executive who developed an all-sports competition between Duke and Carolina called the Carlyle Cup. He has written The Dean's List: a Celebration of Tar Hell Basketball and Dean Smith and Dean's Domain: The Inside Story of Dean Smith and His College Basketball Empire on North Carolina basketball and coach Dean Smith. He lives with his family on the "Duke side" of Chapel Hill.

Chapter One
Tides of March

Under the glint of the newly redesigned 2005 NCAA Tournament trophy, North Carolina’s first in twelve years, many Tar Heel fans could not fully enjoy the moment.

Their latest national championship had been achieved in the unlikeliest of ways—by a second-year head coach, who finally had assuaged the anger he caused from first turning down the UNC job in 2000, leading a largely bastardized team of players that former coach Matt Doherty had recruited.

Roy Williams was back to stay, for sure, despite almost annual offers to coach the in-flux Los Angeles Lakers. But the stepchildren who had won his first NCAA title after four previous trips to the Final Four at Kansas would not be back, that much was almost certain. Three were graduating and the other top four players were underclassmen who were all likely to enter the NBA draft.

Even after their team cut down the nets in St. Louis, returning Carolina to national prominence following a turbulent transition from the Dean Smith era, the specter of archenemy Duke loomed as large as ever. The Blue Devils still dominated the rivalry in recent years, beating Carolina in fifteen of the last eighteen meetings and running up unprecedented strings of ACC regular season and tournament championships.

And, Duke was not losing its entire team. Supposedly, only one starter, senior Daniel Ewing, was departing after All-American and ACC Player of the Year J. J. Redick reaffirmed his decision to stay for his senior year and All-ACC center Shelden Williams, the best shot-blocker and post defender in Duke history, also decided not to test the NBA.

"I want to accomplish some of the same things Carolina did," Williams said in his announcement to return.

Both programs were bringing in stellar recruiting classes for the 2005–06 season, but Duke’s was rated higher, led by McDonald’s All-Americans Greg Paulus and Josh McRoberts. Heading Carolina’s class was Tyler Hansbrough, a big white center like so many others that had anchored Roy Williams’s Kansas teams, but he would have few seasoned players to help his adjustment.

Duke was loaded. The ever-increasing Blue Devil fan base, pervasive everywhere but in the state of North Carolina, was already licking its collective chops over next year’s Final Four in Indianapolis, where the Dukies had won the first of their three national championships in 1991.

As was the case a year before, when after Roy Williams turned down the job privately and Mike Krzyzewski freaked out another first-year Duke president, Dick Brodhead, by publicly flirting with the Lakers (he had done the same to Nan Keohane in 1994 over an offer from Portland), the off-season found both basketball juggernauts in the news.

Tar Heel players Raymond Felton, Sean May, Rashad McCants, and Marvin Williams, who together with seniors Jawad Williams, Jackie Manuel, and Melvin Scott represented 90 percent of their team’s scoring, 80 percent of its rebounds and assists, and all but 20 of its blocked shots, indeed turned pro and were all NBA lottery picks—the first time four underclassmen from the same program had ever gone in the first round.

Duke junior Shavlik Randolph, among the most highly recruited prep players in North Carolina history and grandson of N.C. State legend Ronnie Shavlik, also applied for the NBA draft despite averaging only six points a game. The stunning announcement followed widespread reports of financial trouble in his family. His father, Kenny Randolph (a UNC graduate), had filed bankruptcy for two of the businesses he and his family had inherited from Ronnie Shavlik. Krzyzewski was miffed that Randolph did not follow his advice to stay in school and made plans to go on without him. Randolph went undrafted but hooked on as a free agent with the Philadelphia 76ers, whose general manager was former Duke defensive star Billy King.

In October, just after preseason practice began, Roy Williams got a surprise phone call from high school senior Brandan Wright of Tennessee, a consensus schoolboy All-American. The 6` 9" forward, who had visited UNC the weekend before and attended Late Night with Roy, told Williams he wanted to play for the Tar Heels. Speechless, a rare state for the talkative Carolina coach, Williams had figured that Wright was going to Duke and now had to retract a scholarship offer to Memphis forward Thaddeus Young, who eventually signed with Georgia Tech.

As Williams continued rebuilding the Carolina program, the Wright commitment marked the first player he had landed that Duke also wanted but clearly lost to the Tar Heels. Williams had been closely aligned with Hansbrough since he started recruiting him for Kansas, and fellow freshman Marcus Ginyard was scouted but not offered a scholarship by the Blue Devils. Wright, together with point guard Ty Lawson and shooting guard Wayne Ellington, gave UNC its second recruiting class of three consensus top-ten players in four years or since Felton, May, and McCants enrolled in 2002.

Duke, of course, still had its own studly list of commits who would sign letters of intent that November, including 6` 6" Jon Scheyer from Glenbrook, Illinois, who had played for the brother of Illinois coach Bruce Weber, and Ellington’s Philadelphia high school teammate Gerald Henderson. But Wright’s decision left Krzyzewski and his staff scrambling to fill the spot earmarked for a strong forward. They immediately turned their attention to unsigned New Jersey forward Lance Thomas, who had originally committed to Arizona but said he’d wait until the spring to sign.

In late October, Krzyzewski was named coach of the USA Basketball team, an appointment that promised to keep him in the headlines through the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. He was the first college coach to hold the position since the United States began using NBA players in the Olympics, and it fulfilled another lifetime goal for the Army graduate who always had loved international basketball, long before serving as an assistant to Chuck Daly (a former Duke assistant coach himself) on the original 1992 Dream Team in Barcelona.

With other ACC teams also losing key players, Duke was a landslide favorite to win the league. They lived up to their top-ranked billing by sweeping the preseason NIT before routing second-ranked Texas in a made-for-national-TV game at the Meadowlands behind 41 points by Redick. The Blue Devils weren’t threatened until they needed a forty-footer from Sean Dockery at the buzzer to stave off a home upset to Virginia Tech. Their best early win might have been breaking a three-game losing streak to Maryland, before which Krzyzewski pulled one of his forever-hokey but famously effective motivational ploys. The entire team signed the Duke logo on Coach K Court in Cameron Indoor Stadium, publicly indicating their intention of defending their home court against a team to whom they had lost to on that floor last season and three straight times overall.

Carolina, picked to finish sixth in the ACC, needed an ugly three-pointer by David Noel, the only returnee with any experience, to defeat low-major Gardner-Webb in its opening game. After a close home loss to Illinois in a national championship rematch for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, Carolina upset then tenth-ranked Kentucky in Lexington but went into the holiday break on a blowout loss at Southern Cal that did not bode well for the ACC season. However, several unsung players were emerging to help Hansbrough, the team’s top scorer and rebounder. This book was much better than I expected it to be

This book was much better than I expected it to be. The story had enough twists and turns that it kept me wanting to read on. However, it was the sex scenes that truly kept me reading on. It was refreshing and exciting to read a piece of erotica that was actually erotic rather than romantic. They were masterfully written and made me want to do more than just read....
Definitely worth the 4.95 to purchase and most definitely a keeper.
